Hypnosis for Stopping Smoking
“It’s easy to quit smoking. I’ve done it hundreds of times”. —Mark Twain.
But how did you get to this decision?
Let’s take you back for a moment, lets take you back to your very first cigarette. I want you to remember how you felt, how it felt to open that packet or roll that cigarette. How did it make you feel? When you lit up did it make you feel one of the group? Socially accepted, as cool as a movie star? Putting that cigarette to your lips, taking that first drag. The smoke hitting the back of your throat like a steam train, the stifling, dense, indescribable smell in your nostrils, the sound of your inhalation, the tingling sensation on your lips, the burning down your throat and into your lungs. You can almost feel your body jumping for joy can’t you? And then it messed with your mind, creating habits that have become ingrained and unshakeable. Hitting your health. Hitting your pocket. Your loved ones hating the fact you do it because they know its damaging your lungs and will lead to physical pain in the future. Making you stand outside to smoke in the winter as the clever ones want you to feel that special too….
Part of you wants to give up …part of you wants to hold on to this killer habit.Let’s draw a parallel to a parasite which appears to be part of the host organism but in reality undermines it’s very existence. Just like smoking steals away wealth, youth, looks, the very cells of the body. Even years of life.
Smoking is clever. Smoking masquerades as you whilst ruining you from the inside. It’s a myth that someone ‘has to want to stop’ because everybody….everybody…already does. All you need to do is feel more associated to the parts of you that want to be free…your lungs, heart, cells and feel disassociated from the conniving parasite that convinces you it is part of who you are.
Now, if you are the former group it is not your time yet..maybe in a few days, a few months, a few years. If you have decided the time is NOW to quit. Welcome. Welcome to a new healthy future. Welcome to no longer being outside in the cold. Welcome to not seeing your had to come by money go up in smoke. Welcome to taking back control.
Smoking is not you. You are you. Smoking is smoking. Smoking is not who you are. Smoking can disguise itself as a friend, someone you can relax with, console yourself with when times are rough, have a drink with, but… how many real friends eventually turn around and stab you in the back?
What to expect when you stop smoking:
The Good news:
Your body starts to heal within minutes of your last cigarette, roll up, cigar or pipe. The benefits continue to grow, hourly, daily, weekly , monthly, yearly.
A word to the wise: If you are taking medications these are metabolised quicker by smokers so the dosage you are taking may need to be reduced. It is wise to check with your doctor before you quit.
Some will stop smoking more quickly than others. We are all unique. Which is why we do this over 3 sessions of hypnosis. It is possible to quit smoking after the first session in which case the subsequent sessions will be used as reinforcement. We will document your progress and address any times or situations where old associations still need to be gradually replaced with new heathy habits. Hypnosis can help stop those cravings below the level of conscious awareness.
Smoking is a physical as well as mental habit. Nicotine is addictive. It is a drug. When you stop smoking, you may experience constipation, coughing, dizziness, the urge to snack. Hypnosis can help with all of these normal reactions. Hypnosis is a very scientific approach to help you stop smoking. It is not magic. It can help by-pass those surges of dopamine that enter the brain from nicotine in the bloodstream, which hits receptor sites and give you that feel good factor. As a smoker, you expect this dopamine rush many times a day and when its removed your mind works overtime to convince you that all you need to do is light up that cigarette now.
By using hypnosis your withdrawal “ups and downs” will be muted then, soon, silenced. The urges to smoke will disappear. Your life will become less about missing smoking and more about the freedom that stopping smoking gives you.
Hypnosis for Stop Smoking is that scientific leverage and natural support you have been missing…. You will wonder why you waited so long to quit.
So, why will hypnosis work when nothing else has?
